We’ve all seen the world surfing contest surfers and their awesome rides. When you are just learning how to surf, a long softboard is the way to go. It provides maximum buoyancy and stability for that novice surfer. A softboard, also called a foam surfboard, is usually composed of a foam core, or hollow plastic with solid foam, which makes them cheaper to make, but not necessarily the cheapest boards to buy at all. A foam board with a thick fiberglass coating is nearly indestructible, which means it may last you for years! However, if you keep improving your surfing ability, you will want to upgrade to a shortboard, and so you may not want to spend a small fortune on your first longboard.
So maybe you have pro-surfing dreams, but you are at the start of your journey to surfing success.
