Are you over riding with a longboard? But what board is best? If you feel that you are no where near using a shortboard, but want to be able to move away from a longboard then there is a board just for you. The option I’m talking about, that is shorter than a longboard but taller than a shortboard, is a soft funboard.
A funboard is mid-sized, usually running about seven to eight feet in length. This is definitely smaller than a longboard which runs about eight to fourteen feet, but a bit taller than a shortboard which runs about six to eight feet. The advantage of having a soft funboard is that you’ll have an easier transition from the longboard to the more difficult boards.
With a soft funboard you will still be able to catch the easier waves that you wouldn’t be able to catch with a shortboard. You will also be able to maneuver much easier than you would if you were riding a longboard. Another good feature of a soft funboard is that it is made of a softer material than a regular board. The soft material will make your transition from longboard to a more difficult board much easier, or at least less painful!
With the soft funboard you’ll be able to gradually improve your surfing and not be discouraged to move away from the longboard. The soft funboard also makes a great everyday surfboard. It is a stable enough board for the beginner surfer looking to move onto tricks and turning, but is also great for the more advanced surfer in the less desired conditions.
