Longboard Surfing is a Lifestyle

Are you a diehard surfer? Many of the expert surfers out there in the water stick to longboard surfing for the simple reason that it’s a little more laid back style, and you can longboard in virtually all conditions. If you’re a shortboarder, you have to wait for a good wave day to take your board out, but longboards are designed for those small to medium sized waves. Since the majority of wave days are going to be mellow small wave days, especially during the hot days of summer, then the board of choice for those who to get out in the water everyday will be the longboard.

Longboard surfing is great way to start your day or unwind after work. Many die hards take their longboards out early in the morning and start the day enjoying the beauty of the ocean and the beach before they start the rest of their day. It’s a good way to get exercise, yet relieve your stress and just soak in the natural beauty around you when you go longboarding. And because longboards aren’t designed to do quick maneuevers, they are generally a smooth and easy ride on those little waves. Of course, if you need a challenge, you can always try to hang five or hang ten, or teach your dog how to surf so he can get out there with you.

Longboard surfing is the way that many surfers get started, because longboards are easier to learn on than most other surfboards. However, you will find when you hit the beaches that longboarding is a style that many surfers stick with even though they have tried shorter boards, because longboarding is subculture by itself in the surfing world. Whether you have a foamie, (softboard), or a wooden longboard, you may find yourself drawn to the longboarding culture.

So get ready for fun in the sun and get out in the water with those lazy summer waves. You can join the diehard longboard surfers out there this summer, and find that almost everyday is good surfing day for longboarding. You will have fun learning a new sport, and probably find that you will become addicted to the easy and laid back lifestyle that longboard surfing is all about.
