Many Shapes & Sizes For Longboard Surfing

We have a variety of longboards at BuyBoardz. We have longboards with a soft top, but a hard bottom made of resin or fiberglass. The hard bottom makes a good contact point with the water, and helps the board ride faster, while the soft top is good for the beginning surfer.

Longboards are the original variety of surfboard, used when the standup surfing sport started in Hawaii by the Polynesians during the 19th century. The old-fashioned longboards were carved out of solid wood, reaching 10 to 14 feet in length, and weighing up to 150 pounds. Thank goodness modern longboards aren't that heavy anymore! With all the technological advances in the past 150 years, longboards are now very different. Longboards have different lengths and are made of different materials depending on what you're looking for in your surfing experience.

The modern longboard has undergone many improvements, making it much easier to manage than the first solid wood boards. It is created out of lighter materials that allow much less drag when you take off. Now, most longboards are between 9-10 feet long, but there are some that are 12 feet in length. Longboards are usually long and wide, offering maximum stability and flotation for the surfing newbies. Buyboardz also offers longboards created out of different materials, so you can find the right size and composition for your beginning maneuvers or expert longboarding needs.

We have a variety of longboards at BuyBoardz. We have longboards with a soft top, but a hard bottom made of resin or fiberglass. The hard bottom makes a good contact point with the water, and helps the board ride faster, while the soft top is good for the beginning surfer. We also offer longboards that are not softboards at all, and these are usually ridden by experienced longboarders. Some of our longboards also have hard fins, made of resin or fiberglass, which also help the board ride the water faster and carve, but are not good for kids or beginners because these fins are sharp!

Longboards have come a long way from where they started in 19th century Hawaii. With modern technology, the tankers of today are much lighter and easier to maneuver than their bulky predecessors. Longboards are often a board of choice for beginners, with their stability and flotation capabilities. Whichever longboard you choose, Buyboardz has the surfboard for you. Lighter or heavier, 9 feet or 12 feet, soft top or not, your longboarding experience will be awesome when you have the right board from BuyBoardz!
