Welcome to the Shortboards section of BuyBoardz. As the name implies, the shortboard is the smallest surfboard you can get. Shortboards are the expert surfing board, because they are lighter, thinner, and shorter than any other surfboard. Though harder to balance on, making them unsuitable for beginners and goofballs, shortboards are the board made for those difficult tricks, like riding off the lip, doing a cutback, and catching air.

Most of our shortboards are between 6 and 8 feet long, with a rounded tail and a pointed nose, and most models have three "skegs" (fins). Made of ultra light materials for maximum maneuverability, shortboards don't have the buoyancy and stability of a longboards or funboards, but they move much more quickly for the good tricks. Because they are thinner and shorter, you may find that your shortboard performs better with steeper, larger waves and late takeoffs. That means you better be fast and catch that wave right before it breaks with a shortboard!

There is a special mini shortboard we offer called the "Blackball Beater". This board stands short at 4 feet, 11 inches and was made especially for getting into the blackball zone. Good surfers know how good the surf can be in the blackball zone, so don't miss out on the good waves because your board is too big!

Shortboards, even blackball beaters sometimes, are the ones you see pro surfers use to do those awesome tricks on, because the small size and low weight allows for maximum maneuverability and catching air. Even though shortboards are harder to surf with, and not recommended for newbies, if you are a skilled surfer and you want to take things up a notch, then our shortboards are for you.
