Small wave day? Or are you looking for a great workout to add to your surfing routine? Stand up paddle boards are the perfect way to spend a lazy summer day where the waves are small, or even if you're on the bay or a lake. Here at Buyboardz, we offer a full line of stand up paddle boards with deck padding, and paddles. Not sure how to pick out the stand up paddle surfboard for you? You will need to figure out the width, length, and thickness of the right stand up paddle board for you. Read on!
Width: Width is important, because it determines the stability of the stand up paddle board. What is the norm? Well, the average stand up paddle board width is usually around 29”, so if you are looking for easy cruising, look at our 29”- 31” wide boards. If you are an experienced paddle boarder, and seeking more of challenge, the 27”- 28” wide stand up paddle boards may be more up your alley. Remember, the narrower your board is, the harder it is to stabilize, but it will allow for more maneuverability.
Length: Like any surfboard, the length of your stand up paddle board will determine the stability of the board, and has an effect on maneuverability. There are three popular lengths for paddle boards, which are 10' 6, 11'0 and 12'0. We offer paddle boards in these three sizes here at BuyBoardz, so you will need to figure out which one will suit your skill level. Remember, if you choose the shorter stand up paddle board, then it will be easier to maneuver, but a longer stand up paddle board is easier for the novice to paddle and glide on.
Thickness: Now it's time to think about the thickness of your stand up paddle board. We have boards with thickness ranging from 4 1/2" to 4 3/4". It's a small quarter of an inch difference, and if you have trouble stabilizing out there on the water, we would recommend the 4 3/4" thick stand up paddle board. Why do paddle boards have this extra thickness? Because it gives surfers awesome wave catching ability while providing a stable platform to balance on.
Pick your paddle! Now that you know the basics of picking out your stand up paddle board, you will need to decide what kind of a paddle you would like to have. We offer carbon fiber and wooden paddles, and you can get different heights depending on how tall you are. For our beginners, the best paddle will be a wooden paddle with a wide blade. Helpful hint: Add 6" to your overall height to get the correct paddle length.
You are ready to find your stand up paddle board and paddle now! Remember the most important factors to keep in mind are paddle length and composition, and the width, length, and thickness of your new stand up paddle board. Find your board here and get on out there and have some fun in the sun, big waves or not.
