When deciding what size board you need it is important not to let your ego get in the way. Oftentimes we find that surfer’s skill levels are far better in their minds than they actually are in the water. So, this means you need to choose a surfboard that will not only challenge your skills as you progress but will not be so advanced that it hinders your ability to get started.
If you are a beginning surfer remember this, Bigger is Better. The bigger board you have, the easier it is going to be to stand up and surf. However, the downside is that the board will be less maneuverable. Beginners should not buy a shortboard if they are just learning how to surf. Our most popular boards are the fun shapes such as a soft longboard and a fish surfboard. Please refer to the basic sizing guide below for help determining the right size board.
